The Ismaili Centre, Toronto

To be situated in a 6.8 hectare landscaped park adjacent to the Aga Khan Museum and within sight of a major Toronto thoroughfare, the Ismaili Centre, Toronto will be the second Centre in Canada after the Ismaili Centre, Burnaby, which opened in 1985.

The Foundation Ceremony of Centre, as well as the Museum and their Park, was performed by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mawlana Hazar Imam on 28 May 2010. Designed by renowned architect Charles Correa, it will incorporate a Jamatkhana, spaces for intellectual engagement, as well as facilities for social and cultural gatherings. Like Ismaili Centres elsewhere, it will host an active series of programming to engage the Jamat and the wider public in dialogue, learning, and bridge-building.
