THE STUDIO
The Downtown Social Club is a live recording studio, nestled auspiciously in the heart of downtown Courtenay. This 1100 sq ft. studio includes an espresso bar and an intimate studio atmosphere now open to the public with ticketed nighly events...absolutely live music.
THE FOUNDERS
In the seventies Eirah Unger played professionally, most notably in "Geppetto". During the next thirty years, he continued to write, study, arrange music and perform on an infrequent basis. His extensive family, demands of a business and continued studies did not impede his insatiable desire to entertain. In lieu of making cd's and going on the road again, he and Kim Tymkow in 2004, began looking for an appropriate space to build a venue and assemble talented musicians. Kim and Eirah gave birth to The Downtown Social Club in November of 2007 and sculpted talented musicians into the performing and recording group "Flat Nine".
