Corey Zaal’s Real Estate Background

The majority of Corey’s business comes from repeat clients and recommendations from his past clients. Corey’s clients choose to recommend or use him again due to his hard work, integrity, and great customer service. ”A lot of realtors spend most of their time chasing after new clients, but I choose to focus on the clients I already have and that enables me to do a better job for them,” says Corey, “as a result my business continues to grow year after year.”

Over the past four years, Corey has successfully maintained one of the best list to sale ratios in the Comox Valey area. When asked why a seller should be concerned about their realtors list to sale ratio, Corey replied “When you choose a real estate agent to sell your house, you want to choose someone with a proven track record. You should choose someone that lists 20 homes a year, successfully selling 14 of those homes, not the “top realtor” who lists 100 homes a year and only manages to sell 40.”

Corey is highly respected and well known in the real estate community having being elected as the Director of the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board for the Comox Valley area. Working as the director enabled Corey to attend real estate conferences across North America with some of the top real estate trainers in the world. While Corey loved this position, he chose to step down after two years in order to continue succesfully expanding his growing business.

Corey started his career with Royal LePage and worked there for five years before moving on to RE/MAX Ocean Pacific Realty where he has now worked for two years. Corey choose to move to RE/MAX in order to be a part of the largest, and most successful real estate companies, not only in the Comox Valley, but in the world.

Corey is an acting executive with the Young Professionals of the Comox Valley. The YPCV is a society aiming to assist in the professional development of the Comox Valley’s future business leaders, and they also raise money for many local charities such as Habitat for Humanity and the Comox Valley Girls & Boys Club.

Other charities that Corey contributes to include the Children’s Miracle Network and the Salvation Army.

A Little About Corey

Originally from Fort St. John, BC, Corey moved to the Comox Valley in 1997 and has thought of it as home ever since despite leaving for a few years to study business at BCIT. Corey is married to Tara Hughes (now Tara Zaal) and they have two kids. Their daughter Kylie is now in Kindergaten at Huband Park Elementary, and their son Carter is now two years old.

They recently moved to North Courtenay in the Huband Neighborhood and have been loving the change. It’s the type of neighborhood that characterizes the Comox Valley with parks and trails in all directions. The house itself needs a lot of work but it’ll be well worth it in the end.
