Career Services is a department within Centre for Distance Education (a private career college). Career Services is designed to assist students and graduates secure job offers in their chosen field.

• Work Ready Self-Assessment

• Mock interviews (telephone or online)
• Wage information for the region; wage negotiation strategies
• Preparation and information on Interviewing skills (including behavioural questions and the STARS model)
• Tips for the job searches; overcoming job search obstacles
• Facebook screening tips
• Student Loan information
• a revised resume, 2 copies
• a basic cover letter,
• a cold email
• and a reference sheet (explanation of what is needed for a reference)
• Sample follow-up emails (after an application, after an interview, after dropping off a resume in person)
• Answers to other career-related questions!
For self-employment individuals, I refer them to Business Canada Network which provides very detailed (and easy to follow) information on how to register yourself, create a business plan (including how to find information relevant to your business) and apply for loans or grants if eligible. Province specific information is made available here as well.
